Work With Us
New detasselers: please complete the entire application. If you are accepted, we’ll contact you on the next steps in the hiring process. Returning detasselers: please complete the application or the signup paperwork as soon as possible after March 1st , so we know how many new detasselers we can hire for your crew. If you are applying to be a bus driver, supervisor, or assistant supervisor, please skip the questions that apply to teen-aged applicants and not you, such as school and grade.

Note
If you are considered for employment, you’ll need to fill out additional paperwork. If you are under 19 years old, a parent or guardian must give permission and sign paperwork as well. We invite you to signup meetings to complete the paperwork and give you more information about detasseling. To be considered for employment, you must be prepared to work hard and follow rules to ensure a positive work environment and everyone’s safety. Detasselers basically are quality control to help produce hybrid seed corn that meets high standards. Detasseling doesn’t require as much physical strength as you might think, but it does require concentration, walking down corn rows, and working in all types of weather, including heat. We ask that you agree to create a positive environment, respect everyone, work hard, help others, and always strive to do your best to help produce quality seed corn. You can make new friends, develop leadership skills, make great money, and have fun in the process as long as we all work together to get the job done and respect each other. S&J Detasseling is on the Governor's Detasseling Safety Task Force. Additional safety measures will be in place this summer and are based on directed health measures (DMH), Task Force recommendations, and seed corn company's safety procedures. Our workers' safety is a priority.
Please check the “I agree” box if you are physically able to do the work, will come prepared to create a positive environment, and will follow all safety rules.
